Hello Fresh Food Enthusiasts! We are so busy already getting ready for the season at Sayward Haven Farm. The ginger is growing fast indoors and first produce plants have been planted in the greenhouse - lettuce mix, spinach, mustards, arugula, tatsoi, chard, pac choi, green onions and more! Weather co-operating we expect to have our first produce on the stand late March before Easter!
Farmer Tracey had unexpected kidney surgery 2 weeks ago and is recovering well and is now back to propagating plants for the farm and our Annual Plant Sale. In addition to taking care of Tracey, Farmer Don is busy upgrading irrigation and planting first seeds in the hoophouse. So exciting!
The 6 girls - our lovely ducks - have been thriving through the winter and are laying eggs at a healthy pace. They have been earning their keep over the last few weeks running the farm, eating slugs and snails and other unwanted planteaters.
